All Natural Alternative for Hair Color

As someone in the beauty industry for 30 + years, I have experienced my clients' life changing events from weddings to funerals to baptisms to bar mitzvahs, and including mid-life gray hair emergencies which lead to interventions.

While attending a hair color forum, I was in a session where the presenter shared that she routinely adds an artificial sweetener known as Sweet and Low to her color formula (1 to 4 packets) because it stops the itching her clients experience, while not affecting color.

This set off alarms in my mind to think that my trusted constituents are noticing the harmful effect and are hiding it. The addition of the artificial sweetener masks side effects while increasing formaldehyde. I began to ask myself questions about the ingredients that cause the itching; then I thought about the harsh odors that I've accepted as part of the color process. Hmmmmm. Let's look further. I began to question everything I had accepted about hair coloring and began to research.

I became obsessed with researching hair color products, their ingredients, their origins and effects. I was on the computer at every available minute. I was shocked by what I discovered and I became committed to finding alternatives. The good news is that there are alternatives and the better news is that, finally, they are here in the US.

MY RESEARCH REVEALED ...

Most typical hair color products use harsh chemicals; such as ammonia, that damage hair in the coloring process, changing the appearance and the structure forever - changing the Ph, striping the hair's natural health and shine, and ruffling the hair cuticle, forever. Guess what? Guess. Yes, that's what I thought. It's not necessary in hair color to have ammonia for an effective result.

Currently, in the US we have a choice. We can choose to use hair color with less toxic ingredients. The result is that we are kinder to our hair and to our bodies. Remember, our skin is an organ, the largest organ of our bodies, and what we put on our skin is absorbed into the body.

Indeed, a chemical reaction occurs when certain ingredients are placed together (ingredients not in organic color). This creates a gas that you breathe in until it is completely evaporated. In addition, there is that strong harsh smell.

Parabens is another buzz word in the beauty industry. They are another harmful ingredient in typical hair color products.

They became part of the hair color formula because of their preservative affect on the solutions. What I learned, and this is my opinion, is that Parabens have been documented to be in the bodies of 99% of breast cancer patients. Parabens also disrupt the endocrine system.

Color manufacturers include Resorcinol because when combined with other chemicals, it promotes permanent color effect. It has been found to cause skin irritation and is a hormone disrupter. It has been reported that the more often you are exposed to Resorcinol, the greater the allergic reaction until you may find yourself running to the emergency room. As with Parabens, it disrupts the endocrine system. I am committed to sharing important information. Harmful ingredients are not necessary for beauty.

Using more certified organic ingredients and eliminating particular chemicals is a more effective and safer way to color hair. In addition, organic color products use a pharmaceutical grade hydrogen peroxide (the same ingredient as in eye drops) which is a higher quality ingredient. This formulation has been used for decades in Europe due to stricter regulations

OUTSTANDING RESULTS

Organic ingredients are gentler on hair and will lock in color, moisture and goodness in every strand because of the non-abrasive nature of the product. So, hair looks naturally healthier and glossier with bounce and radiant, longer-lasting color.

To achieve great color you don't need lots of harsh chemicals that damage the hair. We should expect to have a higher regard for our bodies and a higher standard for ourselves and our hair stylists. We are just beginning to learn this from other countries and the European standard.

FIND AN OUTSTANDING SALON

With a unique, natural and ethical hair color alternative, salons using these products stand out due to their integrity and their attention to the science behind something that is key to how you see yourself and how you present yourself to the world. These salons are healthier and more pleasant places to receive your hair color services and also more pleasant places to work - without a whiff of ammonia.

Please share this information with your loved ones and your colorist to help all of the beauty industry bring about change for the good of all! Thank you.
